We’re big fans of Peppermint Heaven here at The Music Site, and happily so. We have now been treated to a remix of their track ‘You’ coming from their latest project taking their sound in a completely different direction than their last studio album ‘Curious Things’. The indie-pop duo love to play with their sound, right now the guys from Chicago are looking at talent from the UK so watch this space.

Producer Oscuro’s remix of ‘You’ nails the first checkbox of a remix, it’s completely different to the original track. And it nails the second one, it’s not ill-fitting or contrived. Oscuro is mighty talented which is plain, and, it’s evident he does understand the tracks he’s deconstructing. There’s a reason Thump said Bonobo has some competition in him, and he is right to be paying attention.   Oscuro made his debut with a Tears for Fears remix back in 2014 which was well received and simply an incredibly great track, following on from that with a full length album receiving massive support from the likes of Spotify and BBC Introducing.

Now he’s lending this massive and wholly impressive talent to Peppermint Heaven in a track blending the wonderful vocals we know and love from Peppermint Heaven with house beats in an moody, ethereal piece that keeps you (pun intended) on your toes with new garage and electronica backing dropped in throughout. Not only is this sure to please fans of both Oscuro and Peppermint Heaven, but fans of Four Tet and Maribou State also.  It is definitely one to check out and enjoy.

If this is any indication of what the rest of Peppermint Heaven have planned for their remix project, it’s going to be a good one. Catch our latest interview with the duo.
