Recorded over a year ago, the new single from Connah Evans is something of a departure for the pop artist. Attempting to keep his layered pop sound but with a classic singer-songwriter bent, the track offers a new perspective for the artist. And you can find out all about it below.

  1. 1. Where and when did you first discover your interest in music?

Music has always been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember! I started in a brass band when I was really young which was when I discovered my interest in actually reading music as well as playing instruments. From then on I just seemed to pick up every instrument I could get my hands on! My mum has got a really good taste in music which I think helped a lot as I grew up listening to so many different genres, I think that’s one of the reasons why I have such a diverse taste in music. I only actually started to take music seriously as I reached about 16/17, I began writing all the time and just found an unconditional love for something! Because I am dyslexic it was nice to be able to write something that was just for me and also not feel that I was going to be judged or criticised by teachers…and now I’m here where I am today!

  1. What are your main ambitions in the industry?

My main ambition in the industry is honestly just to be able to do what I genuinely love doing for as long as I possibly can! Also to play as many amazing shows as I can! Music is my life, I always tell people that playing live is my drug and that I am hooked, I really don’t know what I would do without it! If I was to have one goal in my career it would be to go on a headline tour and make my family and everyone who has helped me along the way proud!

  1. When did you start writing your own songs/music?

I wrote my 1st ever song when I was around 9 and it was about spiders…yes, I said spiders (needless to say it was absolutely AWFUL!). Basically, my teacher at the time identified my love and passion for music and suggested that I tried writing a song, she gave me a book and a pen with spiders on them and so I instantly wrote a song about what I could see, I still have it somewhere! The first song I actually remember writing seriously and that I actually finished is a song called “No Sense” which I wrote when I was about 16/17, I then released this track on my debut E.P Labels.

  1. What would you say is your music career highlight to date?

I have had so many highlights so far including getting to play festivals with amazing artists such as Catfish and the Bottlemen and Tom Odell, but I would say my music career highlight so far has been supporting The Hoosiers in my home city!! It was such an amazing experience and it was such an honour to support them because they were my favourite band when I was younger, if you were to look at my old iPod it will just be filled with The Hoosiers albums throughout!

  1. Who will we hear in your songs? What are your influences?

I do try to be as unique as possible when it comes down to writing songs! I do this so that people are unable compare me to anything/anyone else that they have heard! Although I do have a lot of influences that I look up to in regards to not only song writing abilities but also their stage presence. Catfish and The Bottlemen are so energetic on stage and so I also try to bring the same vibe that they give to all of my shows! I feel like I enjoy it more and in turn so does the crowd! In regards to song writing I take my influences from Circa Waves and also a very talented singer songwriter Josh Record! I like clever and creative lyrics so I try to use them wherever I can.

  1. Whats the most important thing youd want to tell people about your current release?

I think the most important thing that I would want to tell people about my current release is that it is different to anything I have done before! This time I have tried to give it a big feel but still have the singer songwriter concept. It’s also the song that I have held back on releasing for a while as I recorded it nearly a year ago!  so I am very excited to release it and hear what everyone thinks of it!

  1. Who else can you recommend from your genre or local area for people to have a listen to?

If I am honest there isn’t much going on musically in my local area, which is one of the struggles I face as I do find it extremely difficult to get my music out there. However, there is a local Welsh band that I really enjoy listening to called “Swnami” and I’d highly advise everyone to check them out! But I would say if people do like my music I would definitely send them in the direction of Circa Waves and Saint Raymond.

  1. Any gigs coming up?

I am hoping to have a tour coming up after the release of the new single! where I will be doing 15 dates in 15 cities…that’s if all goes to plan! As well as hopefully playing as many festivals as I can over the summer period, so I hope I get to see you all there!
