BBC Radio 1’s sister station 1Xtra will host its annual flagship live show in Birmingham this year, as a single show on the night of November 15th.

The event, which has previously been formatted more like a festival held over four nights in venues around the UK, will this year all be focussed in one place for an individual one-off show. Performers have yet to be announced.

In the lead-up to the show, 1Xtra will be taking part in music based outreach programmes in the local area, with presenters, musicians and DJs participating in workshops and other sessions in the community.

Then, on the night itself, the live gig will be broadcast on both 1Xtra and Radio 1, with the concert also available online and on the red button.

1Xtra presenter Charlie Sloth:

“I’m so excited about 1Xtra Live being in Birmingham for 2014 because it’s a great city for urban talent and really vibrant. It promises to be an unforgettable experience and for anyone who’s been before, the one thing I can guarantee is, it’s gonna be a big man ting.”
