The latest iteration of Band Aid’s ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ has become the fastest selling single of the year and gone straight in at number one this week, making this the fourth time out of four the song has made it to number one on release.  All proceeds for the single are going towards the fight against Ebola in Africa, so curator Bob Geldof has urged people to continue to download the song in spite of its early success.

Elsewhere in the singles chart, Clean Bandit (‘Real Love’ featuring Jess Glynne) went to number two, while Olly Murs entered at number three with ‘Wrapped Up’ featuring Travie McCoy.

Last week’s number one, Children in Need charity single ‘Wake Me Up’ by Gareth Malone’s All Star Choir, held a top ten place at number 7.

Meanwhile, One Direction notched their third number one album in a row with ‘Four’. Ed Sheeran’s ‘X’ has continued to hold its own though, staying at number two, just above Sam Smith’s ‘In the Lonely Hour’.
