Ed Sheeran has become the holder of the longest running album number one of the year, with his LP ‘x’ staying on top of the pile for four weeks since iit was released in June. Paulo Nutini’s ‘Caustic Love’ held top spot for three weeks earlier in the year, but Sheeran’s 367,000 copies sold has seen his competition – Morrissey’s ‘World Peace Is None of Your Business’ – settle for second place once again.

Meanwhile, in the singles chart new UK boy band Rixton have topped the pile with their debut ‘Me and My Broken Heart’:
