The debut album of former X Factor contestant Ella Handerson has gone straight in at number one on the official album chart. The album, ‘Chapter One’, saw the 18 year old outstrip number two Ed Sheeran by over 16,000 copies.

Also notable in the album chart, U2’s ‘Songs of Innocence’ album – the cause of much unnecessary anger when it was given away for free on iTunes – has made it into the top ten on its first week officially on sale.

Meanwhile, in the singles chart, Meghan Trainor’s ‘All About That Bass’ has remained at number one – with One Direction’s ‘Steal My Girl’ only dropping in at number three behind Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’.
