The new track by the immensely talented blues band Big River ‘Devil’s Whisky’ is simply a detailed story about the demon drink. The band elaborated on the back story; ‘It can bring out the inner devil in some, causing them to be unreasonable, clouding their judgement and affecting the people surrounding them, finally realising that it isn’t everyone else, just the devil’s whisky that causes the troubles’. It’s a common tale, but has been interpreted here with loads of bluesy riffs and deep, gritty and effective vocals as we have come to expect from the band. They are totally at home in the blues and rock, and merge them to perfection. To experience them to fullest effect, I recommend seeing them live, you will definitely not be disapointed.
‘Devil’s Whisky’ is the third track to be released from Big River’s as yet untitled debut album, due for release in Sept 2018 on the Roulette Media label.
The track also features the vocal talents of Lucie Hart who is a great little powerhouse vocalist and has fast become Big River’s secret weapon in the studio.
With the addition of brothers Joe and Paul Martin into the band late last year on Drums and Guitar respectively, Big River have firmly stamped their identity over their new tracks and honed a British Blues Rock sound all of their own.
This track was again recorded at Ranscombe Studios in Kent, on analogue equipment with the legendary Jim Riley as producer.
Big River are: Adam Bartholomew (vocals), Damo Fawsett (guitar), Paul Martin (guitar), Ant Wellman (bass), and Joe Martin (drums).
