This year Silverstone Circuit plays host to the inaugural SpeedMachine Festival this May Bank Holiday. Combining music with the British round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy is a unique concept to the say the least, two wildly different industries will be marred in an iconic setting for one weekend only.
Not only can you catch some amazing acts, but you can brush up on your e-gaming with Dirt 4 simulators, take a ride around in Supercars on the new Silverstone rallycross circuit and indulge in the street food you could ever desire. Gear yourself up, pun intended, for one of the most bizarrely wonderful Bank Holiday weekends you will ever have. There truly aren’t many places where you can see Dizzee Rascal’s ‘Bonkers’ and be driven around in a Supercar too.
Paul Bellamy, World RX Managing Director for IMG, concluded: “It’s always been our desire at IMG to create a large scale festival weekend with World Championship motorsport at the heart of it and we are delighted that Silverstone is able to share our vision for the future. The move comes at a pivotal time in rallycross history with the sport celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and continue its rapid growth.”
Silverstone’s Stuart Pringle commented: “Silverstone is extremely proud to be the home of British motor racing and is one of the greatest circuits in the world. But, we’re going to bring a new event here. We’re very much in the entertainment industry, we’ve really focused on that in the last 18 months and we’ve got to come more to the people. The entertainment space is extremely competitive and we need to put something unique and high class together with the SpeedMachine festival at Silverstone, which is slap bang in the middle of the England.”
